Synopsis Thirty blight resistant inbred lines differed significantly in their blight reaction as lines, in their reaction in crosses with 3 susceptible tester lines, and in the performance of the F 2 progenies from these crosses. There also were highly significant differences in blight reaction among the 3 testers and for the interaction of lines ✕ testers, both for the F 1 crosses and for the F 2 progenies. Lines identified as superior breeding sources of resistance were GE440, CI.90A, CI.93A, and Wh4971, with CI.86A, CI.28A, and Kyll4 also showing good promise.
