Synopsis Boron extracted by refluxing soils for five minutes in boiling water produces simply a measure of the equilibrium concentration of boron in the soil solution. It is proposed that a measure of the rate of equilibrium establishment may also be required to obtain a better estimate of boron available to growing plants.
