Synopsis Poa annua (annual blue grass) has been studied and used to determine the relative intensity of the primary phytotoxicant in the Los Angeles smog. Petunia (Rosy Morn) has been used in addition in order to increase the reliability of the diagnosis. A standard technique has been developed for the use of these materials. This method has been in continuous operation since October 1954.
