Synopsis Fair agreement was obtained for heritability estimates derived in three ways: variance components from clonal data, variance components from open‐pollination progeny data, and parent progeny regressions. Characters studied were plant height, plant diameter, leafiness, and protein percentage in the leaves. Considerable genetic potential was indicated for all characters, with height most heritable and protein percentage least.
