Synopsis Data are presented which show at least partial dominance for high gossypol content in hybrids, higher gossypol in open pollinated than in inbred seed of the same line, and higher gossypol in seed grown with irrigation than without. It is concluded that gossypol determinations, to be reasonably precise, should be made on inbred seed, but that open pollinated seed may be used where the differences are fairly wide.
