Synopsis Pubescent alfalfa plants (Hairy Arabian) were found more resistant to leafhopper infestation than glabrous plants, although differences in resistance were found among progenies of glabrous plants, indicating that resistance was inherited. Pubescence was inherited as a quantitative character. Data indicate undesirability of using this type of pubescence as a source of leafhopper resistance.
