Synopsis A method is suggested for observing and measuring the genotype‐night temperature interaction in the field. Data indicate that the interaction may be an important factor in the relative yields of a variety of oats or barley. Genotype‐night temperature interaction curves were found to fit the equation y = c10 kt where y = yield in percent of the location mean, and t = average daily minimum temperature over a given period. Values for c and k are constant for a given variety.
