The legend of the old shoemaker and the Metro customer card tells how an old shoemaker was persuaded by his relatives to apply for a customer card at the Metro Cash & Carry store so that they could use the card for their own needs. Thus they ran up a big debt that the old man was unable to repay. This legend is an example of a transition legend about losers in the tansition process who were unable to develop the necessary skills and adjust themsleves to life under the new systemsystem
