The present work describes the application of spectrophotometric method for the determination of manganese (Mn) used in water samples collected from the coastal zone of the Black Sea. We studied a colorimetric method for the determination of manganese using UVVIS molecular absorption spectrophotometry. We measure absorbance of the 450 nm charge transfer band of permanganate. In all analysed samples we found that the levels of manganese did not exceed the pollution threshold.
