Examples from printed periodicals clarify the tendencies of activation of complex occasional adjectives in the press, outline the specifics of composite adjectives-occasionalisms, which have lexical and semantic features of use, specifics and patterns of creation and explain their meaning. The article provides a brief analysis of research by domestic linguists on the functioning of adjectives in the Ukrainian language. The structural and semantic features and specifics of innovative complex adjectives are clarified taking into account the motivational base and regularities of creation, the most productive types of them are determined. In the article we consider the lexical-semantic aspect of complex occasional adjectives on the example of modern newspaper texts of the beginning of the XXI century.
