An important role in the development of adverse outcomes of new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is played by hemostasis disorders, one manifestation of which is thrombocytopenia. Often it is difficult for the clinician to identify the underlying cause of thrombocytopenia: whether it is coronavirus-induced coagulopathy or whether thrombocytopenia was present in the patient before the disease.
