The study aimed to evaluate the effects of oxidizing effects of feeding supplement with diphenyl diselenide at a concentration of 3 ppm in the catfish diet. For this, 80 fishes were distributed in eight experimental units composed by eight water tanks. The two groups were denominated: T1 - control group and T2 - a group treated with supplemented ration with selenium. Each treatment had four replicates. It has been evaluated the activities of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) enzymes and Catalase (CAT) in the liver tissue, the lipid peroxidation levels (TBARS levels) from muscle and liver tissue and the toxicity of Selenium through the Fish micronucleus (MN) assay. The addition of diphenyl diselenide has not appreciably changed the development of these animals, nor the enzymatic activities of SOD and CAT or yet the TBARS levels. The tested concentration has not been toxic to the animals, as evidenced by the counting micronucleus test.
