As reflexões de Santo Agostinho sobre as relações entre fé e razão deixam como legado para a Idade Média um programa intelectual que os medievais irão desenvolver. Do significado da fé e razão em Santo Agostinho passa-se à sua meta, a busca da verdade (se ela pode ser alcançada ou não) e compreensão da revelação. Chega-se então à explicitação da passagem de Gênesis 1, 26: assim como Deus é Trindade, a essência da alma é trinitária (memória, inteligência, vontade). Discorre-se, finalmente, sobre a posse da verdade.ABSTRACT: St. Augustine’s reflections on the relationship between faith and reason leave as a legacy to the Middle Ages an intellectual program that the medieval thinkers will develop. The meaning of faith and reason in St. Augustine goes on to its target, the search for the truth (if it can be achieved or not) and understanding of revelation. Then comes the explanation of the passage from Genesis 1:26, just as God is Trinity, the essence of the soul is Trinitarian (memory, intelligence, intention). In conclusion, the article talks about the possession of truth.
