On June 20, 2021, early parliamentary elections were held in Armenia in the context of an acute political crisis caused by the defeat in the Second Karabakh War and the loss of most of Nagorno-Karabakh. The “Civil Contract” Party, headed by the current prime-minister of Armenia N. Pashinyan, won the elections. In addition to the “Civil Contract”, two more blocs opposed to Pashinyan passed to the parliament – “Armenia Alliance” and “I have Honor”. The results of the elections satisfied both the leadership of Russia and the leadership of Azerbaijan, who are interested in reducing tension in the South Caucasus.
