The aim of this paper is to describe temporality in terminological definitions as an effect of enunciative agency determined by the constitutive relation between language and interdiscourse. A case study is developed on official documents produced in the process of terminological redefinition of the category of “planet”, which was vigorously debated during the XXVI General Assembly of the International Astronomy Union, at Prague, in august, 24th of 2006. It is argue that an enunciative approach leads to describe scientific terms and their redefinitions in the context of the text where they are introduced and of its relations with other texts, in order to be able to interpret the way enunciative agency determines both temporality and the construction of reference.
