Similar to various other diatopic varieties of German language, one finds numerous person names in Upper Silesian German, in which all possible qualities and modes of existence of the human being are focused and expressed. In the article attention is drawn once to the semantic classes occurring here, as well as to the types of nomination activated in the formation of the names, and then to the word formation types and the languages from which the morphemes forming the names were derived.
