The clinical case we present shows that an inadequate pharmacological treatment of type 2 diabetes does not prevent complications affecting especially the cardiovascular system. Cardiovascular events remain the leading cause of death in people with diabetes. The optimal management of the patient described required a global reassessment and the introduction of new therapies which were adapted according to diabetes progression with its associated complications (Diabetology).
