In this paper we aim to present the most recent research in the field of mediaeval and humanistic manuscript fragments studies. Also, in the context of our research project on fragmentology that is carried out by us in Argentina, we examine the different aspects and challenges that we consider might be shared by various countries in our region. From the partial results obtained as of today, we offer a typology of fragments found in Argentina and the analysis of some representative cases from the Biblioteca Mayor de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba and the Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo.
