J uvenile hyaline fibromatosis is an extremely rare inherited condition, probably resulting from an inborn error of metabolism. It is characterized by cutaneous nodules, gingival hypertrophy and joint contractions. It affects children but usually it is not present at birth, and is microscopically characterized by a conspicuous hyalinization of the connective tissue. J Periodontol 1996;67:451–453 .
