G ingival swellings are common and most often associated with infection. A case due to the rare peripheral squamous odontogenic tumor is described. It is considered premature to regard peripheral odontogenic tumors as either hamartomatous or neoplastic, and close follow‐up of all such lesions is necessary. J Periodontol 1993;64:1250–1252 .
