T he three current regimens for the prevention of infective endocarditis are discussed and compared along, with at‐risk patients and dentally‐induced bacteremias. The principles of antibiotic prophylaxis, and other medical conditions where antibiotic prophylaxis is controversial or inadequately documented is critically analyzed. J Periodontol 1991; 61:227–231 .
