T he cellular composition of crevicular washings from acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients and normal children were examined microscopically. The crevicular washings of patients with ALL yielded a significantly lower viable cell count than the normal controls. The ALL patients had a preponderance of lymphoblasts in their oral differential cell count (78.6%) while polymorphonuclear leukocytes were the prevailing cell type (84%) in the normal controls. In both the ALL and normal patients the differential oral cell counts reflected the differential peripheral blood counts.
