Abstract— The development of high‐security ID systems calls for never‐ending technical and economic innovation. As long as documents and items of high material or immaterial value continue to exist, there will always be attempts to copy or manipulate them. A revolutionary product concept for new ID systems with novel functionality and applications is described and the world's first ePassport containing a thin, bendable active‐matrix light‐emitting‐diode (AMOLED) display without an internal battery is presented.
