We report a new class of phosphorescent Ir( III ) complexes that exhibit highly efficient blue emission. These complexes display an absolute quantum yield of greater than 0.9 in solution at room temperature and have been applied in OLED devices that give an efficiency of 15.7 cd/A at 1000 cd/m 2 with CIE coordinates of (0.15, 0.21).
