We demonstrate the fabrication and operation of a submillisecond phase modulator based on a sheared polymer network liquid crystal technology. The device allows for 4π phase modulation operating at λ=532 nm, while exhibiting low scatter in the visible region and an average response time of less than 400 μs. Potential application for naked‐eye 3D display is emphasized.
