The electron temperature and discharge efficiency in the cell of a shadow mask plasma display panel are calculated with OOPIC and the fluid model respectively. The results show the relationship between electron temperature and discharge efficiency, and the variation with the dielectric layer thickness and Xe concentration. Further analysis shows that the discharge efficiency with higher Xe excitation efficiency is improved by the reduction of the electron temperature.
