To reduce the light leakage of LCDs, the birefringence of pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) was investigated. We proposed a novel birefringence measurement method for measuring the birefringence of PSAs. By this method, the birefringence was evaluated quantitatively. Consequently, we designed a zero‐birefringence PSA which does not exhibit birefringence at any orientation. This zero‐birefringence PSA successfully reduced the light leakage after the accelerated aging test. We clarified the correlation between the birefringence of PSAs and the light leakage.
