In order to prevent image burn‐in or sticking in an AMOLED display, a block‐wise luminance control (BLC) algorithm has been developed. The algorithm controls the frame average current passing through the entire panel to mitigate image sticking progression when any of the blocks goes over the image sticking threshold. The proposed algorithm has been implemented on an FPGA and has been validated in an AMOLED panel.
