We developed a method to improve the performance of polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) display. We experimentally observed that polymer PMMA generates a homogenous alignment of liquid crystal, while polymer PIBMA generates a homeotropic alignment. By mixing them together, we were able to vary the anchoring condition and strength. We constructed PDLC by using the composite of PMMA and PIBMA as the binder. With proper polymer concentrations, the driving voltage of the PDLC can be greatly decreased.
