SrGa 2 S 4 :Eu is promising as a phosphor for blue‐light excitation, for example in a blue LED. We have found that changing the gallium ratio of SrGa 2 S 4 :Eu in preparation influences the optical properties and crystal structure of SrGa 2 S 4 :Eu. As a result, the addition of excess gallium significantly affected the characteristics of SrGa 2 S 4 :Eu.
