This paper will describe the LCD timing control and backlight timing characteristics used to demonstrate a single 3D film method for achieving full resolution autostereoscopic 3D displays in handheld and portable devices. Essential LCD characteristics and timing sequences are reviewed in conjunction with timing for the directional backlight. Experimental autostereoscopic device performance using fast LCD panels and LED driven directional backlights will be reviewed.
