Field sequential color liquid crystal displays FSCLCDs is without color filter, thus saving parts of material cost and improving the optical throughput. However, color breakup CBU which degrades image qualities has come up with sequential driving displays. Our algorithm used 3step convergence approach to determine adaptive B/L in less than one frame time according to image contents. Thus, we implemented real time adaptive B/L determination on hardware . The real time images on 15.4′ panel showed the CBU was greatly suppressed with the adaptive backlight.
