The characteristics of the MgO layer are known to be an important parameter that affects both the stable address discharge and luminance characteristics in an ac‐PDP. In this paper, to enhance the long time‐discharge characteristics of 42‐in. ac‐PDP with an ternary gas compositions such as He‐Xe(17%)‐Ne, the effects of the nano‐powder on the MgO layer on the long‐time discharge characteristics are examined. As a result, it is observed that the MgO layer with nano‐power can enhance the long time‐discharge characteristics in an ac‐PDP.
