The new energy recovery sustain‐circuit (ERC) featuring a variable inductance according to display load is proposed to improve the luminous efficiency. The proposed ERC consists of the dual path rising energy recovery circuit and one path falling energy recovery circuit. In the dual path, one path rising energy recovery circuit uses a small inductance for the display load below 50%, whereas the other path rising energy recovery circuit uses a lager inductance for the display load over 50%. The proposed ERC contributes to reduction of the reactive power by using the LC resonance optimized for the display load.
