A novel TFT addressing method for color filterless liquid crystal displays was proposed. The original model scanned row by row while this proposed model scanned n×n rows. Therefore, TFT scanning time was reduced. The extra time could be used to compensate for the insufficiency of the LC response speed or enhance image brightness. To simultaneously maintain image quality, this scanning model was applied to dimmer fields. with this proposed method, a novel color breakup suppression method, StencilFSC, has higher potential to be implemented on hardware.
