Navigation device becomes more and more popular in a vehicle on the road, and head‐up display (HUD) is the most suitable visual interface in terms of safety consideration. A compact HUD unit with navigation module inside has been proposed and built mainly for improving driving safety while the driver is trying to operate navigation functions. This 90mm (W) × 67mm (H) × 150mm (D) unit provides 65,536 (16 bits per pixel) colors image and QVGA resolution is demonstrated which is available for displaying a wide range of information for vehicle application.
