In this paper, an investigation of how to improve thermal uniformity of LED backlight module without extra thermal cooling device was carried out. According to numerical analysis results, we find out that using irregular lamp bracket design can improve thermal uniformity of LED light bar due to appropriate metal area. After suitable metal area adjusted, reducing the difference of LED junction temperature can enhance the uniformity of light output and longer lifetime.
