There are a number of standards in the world for evaluation of displays. Many focus on a single display technology, others on a single application. Some have entire documents for a single topic. The SID ICDM display measurement standard (DMS), released in 2009, covers almost all areas of evaluation for displays, all types of display technologies, and different levels of application for its use, from manufacturers to consumers. It is likely the most comprehensive display measurement standard written to date, and has contributions of many members found among the SID population of some of the best display evaluation‐related specialists in the world today. We present an introduction to the ICDMDMS.
