In this paper, a novel overdrive system adaptable for the dynamic analog gamma system is proposed. In contrast to the compound gray‐to‐gray overdrive lookup tables and complicated interpolations utilized in conventional dynamic overdrive system, the voltage‐to‐voltage overdrive lookup table is introduced to retrieve proper overdrive compensation voltage. Afterwards, a voltage‐to‐gray converter (V/G) converts the retrieved overdrive voltage level from voltage level back to gray code, resulting in an overdrive gray code. Accordingly, the overdrive gray code is compensated. Thereby, overdrive technology can then be simply and cost effectively integrated in the analog‐type dynamic gamma enhancement system.
