Here is presented a novel electrophoretic display, which employs a suspension of pigments in liquid crystals. The dielectric anisotropy of the LC medium allows the switching with threshold and video rate. The use of a helical LC with electrophoretically controlled selective reflection enables optical performance with high contrast and reflectivity.
