By integrating conductive nanowires into AC powder EL technology, a novel, self‐supported nanostructured powder EL device, consisting of a layer of conductive nanowires which directly contact a ZnS phosphor layer and function as rear electrodes, is reported in this paper. The mechanism for light generation from the nanowire powder contact EL device can be understood from the bipolar field‐emission model.
