Abstract The development of projection system in terms of various light sources during past years accumulated a progressive achievement, which may broaden the projection application and bridge a new era of effective manufacturing process. By categorize the light sources and innovative illumination design respectively; this Article will digest (i) traditional UHP type lamp to solid state light source in relation to various integrator design in illumination, (ii) LED, focus on lighting efficiency utilization in LED light engine development and (iii) the evolutional de‐speckle and cooling methods are the core challenges and accomplishment in laser illumination design.
