The practical cathodoluminescent properties of Y 2 O 3 ‐based nano‐particle phosphors were measured using 3kV accelerating voltage. These phosphors showed the luminance, chromaticity and lifetime superior to the phosphors for CRT. Furthermore, in order to evaluate the application of field emission backlight units (FE‐BLU), we synthesized the white phosphor by mixing red, green and blue nano‐particle phosphors. By the adjustment of the amount of mixtures, fine white color and high luminescence were also observed.
