A new trapezoid fringe field switching (T‐FFS) LCD is proposed. Simulation results indicate that the T‐FFS mode exhibits a high transmittance, wide viewing angle, and low operation voltage, regardless a positive or a negative dielectric anisotropy liquid crystal material is employed. with optimized compensation films, the 100:1 contrast ratio exceeds the ±85 ° viewing cone.
