We have developed a CVA (Controllable Viewing‐Angle) device using a hybrid aligned nematic liquid‐crystal cell which allows a high light‐shielding effect and a wide range of available viewing‐angle control. By putting the CVA device on a TFT (Thin‐Film Transistor) LC (Liquid‐Crystal) Panel, we have realized a simple controllable viewing‐angle LCD.
