Abstract The PMOLED (Passive Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) panel size is limited due to the various reasons; increase of power consumption, degradation of display quality and so on. Suppressing the increment of pre‐charge power consumption according to the increment of panel size is one of the main power issues. The PMOLED driver IC with proposed alternative pre‐charge algorithm for saving pre‐charge power is presented in this paper. This driver IC is applied to the QCIF+(220RGB×176) panel. The pre‐charge power consumption of driver IC with proposed alternative pre‐charge method can be reduced by 50∼70% of the normal method without displays quality degradation.
