Two revolutions are simultaneously occurring in the television (TV) world. One is the transition from CRT to flat‐panel displays and another is the transition from analog to digital TV. The latter transition is well underway in North America (NA), and is now sweeping across Europe, Japan and China. Each market represents significant challenges. Furthermore, within each geographical market, quality and cost need to be appropriately balanced. This paper will describe the different technologies and ATI products to address these issues.
