TrIM® transmissive image modulator technology promises to increase the brightness and lower projection display costs. Three transmissive image modulators for continuous RGB illumination can be addressed by a single small imager. The design and performance of a 3600+ frame per second 1080p LCOS imager having a diagonal <0.48″ is presented. LC response times are <278us and essentially free of disclinations or field effects.
