We propose a COG(Chip‐On‐Glass) source driver which uses a current‐mode interface named LCDS(Low Current Differential Signaling) with point‐to‐point topology, internal voltage regulator and internal gamma reference buffer for cost effective TFT‐LCDs. The proposed COG source driver can minimize control PCB board and FPC(Flexible Printed Circuit) for signal and power supply lines. We successfully demonstrate the 12.1‐inch diagonal XGA TFT‐LCD panel with the proposed source driver. Its module cost except panel is reduced to 70% of that of conventional panel with COF source driver and source PCB board.
