Abstract In this paper, we describe new findings on display performance in large‐sized PDP we acquired through the development process of the world first 65″ 1920×1080p PDP‐TV released in November 2005. Closest viewing distance proved to be only 2/3 of the previous understanding, and that perceived motion resolution having favorable features even in lower resolution panels. Sub‐field scheme and sub‐pixel rendering are discussed to verify the high performance of PDP.
